    Default high pitched noise

my new hard drive is making a high pitched sound and i have some questions.

    1. it seems to be working just fine, so should i keep it, or return it? i have 2 of the same model (ST3250410AS) and its the newest of the two that makes the noise, not the first one i got.

    2. if i keep it what can i put in front of them to block the noise? i was thinking a sheet of cardboard. and maybe some cloth.

If you have lots of info then I don't know but if you don't have much to lose and you have warranty and I were I would get a new one because noise from HHD is NOT normal in anyway

Just use the warranty while you have it. But if you don't there are kits for noise reduction.

This site talks about Acoustic Lining: http://www.nonoise.org/resource/pcno...d/poweroid.htm

This one uses carpet padding: http://www.makeitsimple.com/projects...se/index.shtml

And here is where you can buy the Acoustic Lining: http://www.qrdc.com/Quiet_Computer_P...tic_Insulation
