OK, a little setup;
I have two gents here from Singapore for sgi origin 2000 training. They are fairly intelligent and knowledgeable about UNIX and Linux and what makes things work hardware wise.
I mentioned last night before I left for the day that we would be touching on raid setup and monitoring and they both looked at me like I just blurted something out in a strange Spanish dialect!?!?
Student #1; "What's raid?"
Me; ............?! Really?
???!!!???!!! WTF?!?!
These guys support one of THE most critical systems for the airport in Singapore and they do not know what raid is? The disk subsystem that contains all of the critical data is a raid box, they know nothing about. They do not even know how to tell if a drive is failing or even how to log into the system to check it. Good thing I am ahead of schedule so I can spend the next day and a half walking them through raid boxes...
