    Yes it would work that way. After you copy everything over to the sata drive format the old ide drive so you don't have 2 c drives

    any all it does is make reffence to my "C" drive to get infomation. lol ok next question how do i change drive locations ? and also red and orange sata cables wats the go ? last board i had has red sata new boards has orange sata and orange cables is this a speed thing ?

    All Sata cables will work. I prefer to use the thicker orange cable (2 came with my Motherboard).

    As for why he added an IDE card, most new motherboards only have one IDE channel.

    how many things can run on one ide slot cause it has one harddrive and the cd drive on one cable


    also how do i change a drive name

    hence why he has done it like that lol i cant wait to get my new board and gpu card i hate running onboard graphics my old board had a geforce fx 5200 lol it held up alright but the fan kept not wanting to spin and died lol

    ok well what i meant was change the drive directory from say f to c ? all that does is changes the so it dont say drive it could say music or videos but still has the c in brackets

    in the control panel, go to administrative tool
    then computer management
    Storage
    Disk management
    and right click the drive you want
