Yes it would work that way. After you copy everything over to the sata drive format the old ide drive so you don't have 2 c drives

any all it does is make reffence to my "C" drive to get infomation. lol ok next question how do i change drive locations ? and also red and orange sata cables wats the go ? last board i had has red sata new boards has orange sata and orange cables is this a speed thing ?
All Sata cables will work. I prefer to use the thicker orange cable (2 came with my Motherboard).
As for why he added an IDE card, most new motherboards only have one IDE channel.

and right click the drive you want
