Whats the point of this thread?

Btw, check out Google Sketchup. Its a very easy to use 3D modeling program. Its what most of us modders use to draw up our ideas. No scanners required either. ^_^

    ..........
Have you ever built a computer?
Yes (Have yet to mod one completely though)
Are you aware of the current cooling products on the market?
    Yes
Have you ever had any problems with a computers cooling?
Yes, until I bought adequate cooling products to replace stock cooling products and/or inefficient cooling products.
How many fans do you have in your current computer and what sizes are they?
Three. Two 120mm (front and back) and one 80mm (side panel, directly over cpu area). I also have a Thermaltake Blue Orb II, which has a built-in fan.
Have you ever overclocked a component?
    No
Would you benefit from being able to direct airflow from your fans?
Inconclusive evidence. I've tried many different arrangements of case fans, thus resulting in many different airflow patterns, but I have not been able to tell whether one arrangement is better than another. But as a rule of thumb, positive airflow (intake and exhaust) is fairly guaranteed to work the best.

An example of a simple intake and exhaust system is one fan in the front as an intake and one fan in the back as an exhaust.

Now, if you meant that could we benefit from being able to adjust our fans in different directions, such as if it was on a pivot or whatnot, I would have to say that I wouldn't know. Maybe, maybe not. I've never had a setup that would allow me to do that before. Best way to find out is to just figure out how to do it and then do it.

    Hope that helps!

People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

thanks so far guys, and zephik im not really into 3d drawing. When i make the final product i will be making 2d and 3d drawings for use with the collages laser cutter and rapid prototyping machine. But as far as 3d drawing for sketching up ideas, its not really my thing, and i need to show some hand drawing skills for my coursework folder.

Keep a track on my sig and i will make a thread for my case mod.

Would you benefit from being able to direct airflow from your fans?
if it worked good then yes i think so. it might help with mounting.

EDIT: i just added a rear 80 mm fan to help vent the cpu heat out better.
