    Default 6600 series overclocking

For all you 6600/6600GT owners, I'd just like to know how far you've been able to overclock your card, as a base for comparing how I'm doing. Now, from this article here:http://www.cpluse.com/Module/Show.aspx?id=2218, you can apparently OC a 6600-nonGT to around 400/700 fairly easily, and if you're lucky enough to have a 6-layer PCB 6600, or a "6600Gt in sheeps clothing", you can probably reach near-GT speeds.

using the XG 76.62 drivers, 576/1.17 was the farthest i got stable with an Asus EN6600GT on 3D settings. The nvidia drivers pumped the optimized settings a little further to 586/1.17, but there was heavy artifacting and fps plummeted. my card is also gets super hot really fast (46 idle ---> 75 UT2004 load), so i'll have to do that artic silver trick on my HS.

Interesting. Using the 77.72 drivers and RivaTuner 2.0, I can only get around 556/1.09 on my Asus 6600GT. It seems to be memory limited. This particular card uses Infineon RAM, if that means anything. This is my first nVidia card, so I didn't really know what to expect. My old 9600Pro and X800XL seem to overclock much better than this 6600GT.

Which reminds me, my brother's Asus N6600 is a fair overclocker. It's stable at 375/580; stock 300/500. He's using 77.72/RivaTuner as well. It can be overclocked farther, but Half-Life 2 arifacts heavily above those speeds; Doom 3 will run fine at 390/596.
