On a budget you say....hmmm....OK, I'd go get yourself a big chunk of dry ice and stick it directly on the GPU. You'll have to check it often and it won't last more than a few minutes but it will be really cold for that time. You should probably cut it into rectangular rods the size of your GPU and rig up a stand so that as the dry ice sublimates, it will keep the rest of the rod on top of the GPU.
The path to the good life is directly beneath you at this exact moment
open up your case and aim a fan directly at it.
dont be meen. the antic VGA Coolers r the chepest cooler that i know and there good for the money. i have a thermaltake Giant III and it works good with my big fans .
thats where i got my idea for my fans .Originally Posted by ack ack
LoL, that's original :p ! Yeah, other than getting an NV Silencer, you could get a tube of Artic Silver and apply that to the bottom of the heatsink. And keep the stock HSF clean of dust and stuffOriginally Posted by Bum

Would this thing work real well or is it just a stupid itea.
thats ok, but it would be better to get a cooler directly on the card. Zalman has a couple of good vga coolers.
