lol...FyreKnight just went Ape**** and actually handed out a Rep to everyone in this thread. I thought something fishy was going on when there was a whole page of Reps from him. But hell, that's what the system is there for.

Completely side-question:::
This computer that's getting planned right now, it's for one kid. Through Make-A-Wish...
Um, for future builds, what if we picked a Children's Hospital and provided a 'Media Center' style computer?
That way, many more kids can enjoy it.
Just a thought. :)
RANT::: Wow guys, I'm really amazed at this build. Everybody has come together with a real sense of 'community'. Amazing. :)
These are all good ideas, and it's great for us, as a community, to come together to help out these kids. But you gotta forgive me for being skeptical here-i want us to walk before we try running. Let's see how well this turns out first.
Also, with MAME, we would need to legally own the ROM's from the Arcade machines. I think we can buy about 8, and the rest aren't really available publicly. So there may be tricky licensing issues involved in a MAME box.

dude i got an Nvidia 5500 256 mb , ATI 8500 64mb
First off, wrong thread. Go to the "Parts List" thread. Oh, and before you say something retarded: The one that's unlocked.
(That was not intended as a personal attack, but I was showing this forum to some people earlier and they were going to post under my account in the parts thread but went to the locked one... nubs)
Not to mention, those are both pretty mediocre cards. The best part about either of them is the 256mb on the 5500, but the 5500 can hardly handle anything tougher than, say, pong; and the Radeon 8500 isn't any better.
haha... :) I think someone's donated a sweet graphics card...i haven't really checked the parts list.Quote:

The very idea of getting slowdown in Pong amuses me. I'm imagining geeks in the 80's playing it and blaming their losses on lag...heh heh.
