Overheating.

My current computer. Stats in the sig. I think is running a little hot.

When Idelling
My average CPU temp is 53 C
And GPU is 68 C
The ambient temperature in my case is 48 C

What you guys reckon?

Those temps are fine. As long as you aren't expereincing sportatic reboots are getting kicked out of games you have nothing to worry about.

I guess that means you are fine?

If you are worried about it, you can always look into better cooling products? The cooler things are the longer the life expectancy is, or at least that is how it was explained to me.

I run about 50c CPU idle/ 55c CPU Load, 40c GPU idle, 45c GPU Load, and it's fine. Sure, a lil' hot for my tastes, but the thing runs and doesn't crash.

how many and what type of fans do you have on your rig?

Well ym Gaming cpu (Celeron D @ 3.9 GHZ OC-Socket 478-) doesn't get hotter then 45c at anytime. I bought a thermaltake cpu cooler at radioshack, and I put a Thermaltake Smart Case fan on it. So basicley the Smart Case fan comes with a heat sensing thing. As it gets hotter it spins faster (up to 4800 rpm). I stuck that thing in the heatsink. So that does the job.


I have a 120mm Exhuast fan at the back (blowing out) and 2 intake fans, 1 80mm at the front blowing in, and 1 80mm on the window blowing in.

-CPU= 45c tops
GPU= 40c tops (7800 agp)
case = 35c tops -

ok so if i get the X6800 which is considerabley cooler and put it in a case which can hold 2 80mm fans + Zalman's CPU cooler (something like CNP7900LED or something) then i should be fine right?

That seems sufficent enough to me.

It really depends on the layout of the case how much air is getting through.

Is there is any obsturction to airflow from somethign like an HDD rack?

Also case do you have?

i don't have anything yet, i'm still saving up money. but i am thinking of going with the XGBOX Black Dragon case. actually not thinking, more like certain. this case is what got me into the whole "Build a gaming PC" thing =]

Looks like that case can hold 4x 80mm fans now. Use to only be 3.
