Now for my B-Day I was thinking of getting the EVGA 680i LT especially since it has its own chipset fans, LGA775 socket, and the lovely PCI-E x16 slot.
I'm not sure of the CPU, it'll likely be a dual or quad core (buy it when the octo core comes out in 08' so the price is cheap).
Is there any advantages/disadvantages, or space issues you know of for this motherboard?
Compare the 680i and the 680i LT, in your opinions too would be nice (about space, etc.)

space as in fitting in the case is never an issue since it will fit in all atx and btx form factors. Other issues with space such as heatsink room also isnt an issue with the mobo itself, but the case you're putting it in although I can possibly see some issues with the LT and all of its unnecessary heatsinks getting in the way.
I recommend this board for any build.
I wouldn't get the LT. It has an inferior chipset, and weaker capabilities. If you're spending any money at all on PC components, get the best you can for your budget (and in this case the 680i non-LT).
ya plus if you want a quad core it won't support it very well.
680i normal has the problems with quad cores, the LT version is more compatible (maximum PC).
Unless they fixed the 680i with a newer, 100% compatible and OC-compatible (quad cores couldn't be OCed) them im sticking with the LT.
the newest bios has fixed it i think. here is a link and you will have to select "Mainboards" > "BIOS Update" > "NF68/NF63 - Intel 680i SLI"

Now this I like, now I just need the extra $100 even for newegg. Bummer. Well I'm gonna go with you say and get it for the extra cash, especially since you said its a newer chipset.
If you want a good 680i LT board get the DFI version, that's what I have. It has all the features of a full 680i board but can out perform most, you pay for it though lol, looks great under UV light by the way haha. If you want a full 680i board go for the eVGA one, still the best performer, and fairly cheap also.
I trust EVGA with the motherboards so thats not a problem, the other brand names I see, I've never heard of. But yeah, anything EVGA costs a pretty penny but has amazing performance so far.Quote:

Yep, as you can tell from my siggy, im an eVGA fanboy. ever since my 6600 never had any problems that weren't my fault, and if you do have problems call them, email them, or make a polite post on their message board and they will try to help you any way they can.
(btw i have a 680i A1 booted first time with zero problems)
