Dell E152FPb no display problems
Got myself this monitor for only $3. Should've known that something was up, with it being that inexpensive.
Turns out, the LED turns on, but nothing else. It does see a signal, and the computer does recognize it down to the model number, but nothing appears on the screen, and it isn't just the backlight.
So, before I go nilly-willy on this thing, anything I need to test and check out?

You'll need to join the forum to download the picture of the stuff you'll need to check on the logic board.

Re: Dell E152FPb no display problems
I just did the same thing with a 21" monitor I got from work that went black. Turned out to be 5 bulged capacitors on the power board. They were very easily identified. Three of them I was able to source locally for 3 cents apiece, the other two I had to get thru Digikey. Still, under $5 to repair. And I have another monitor from work that died the day after the first one... probably the exact same issue.
Pull the casing off and check the power supply board for dead caps first.

No bulging caps... Dang it.........
Re: Dell E152FPb no display problems
Ok,if you display an image on it, take it out in the sun or put under bright light, and look at some very low angles to see if there actually is something displayed on the panel. Even if the backlight is out, there will be something visible. Obviously, the control board works. So it's down to backlight inverter, backlight, or signal to the panel.

See the last two sentences on identifying bad caps. They might have no visible signs of failure. Did you read the page I sent you earlier? It identifies the exact ones needed to be replaced including a micro fuse.
Re: Dell E152FPb no display problems
Nope, nothing on the display. Just the LED that's working.
Now, to find a working multimeter and cables to see what fuses are blown....
Re: Dell E152FPb no display problems
Just resoldered. Gonna get myself a DECENT multimeter. Still no backlight or display.
Re: Dell E152FPb no display problems
No signal between board and panel. What kind of connector is it using?
Re: Dell E152FPb no display problems
Looks like some sort of pin-based LVDS-style connector.
Panel model number is Chingwa CLAA150XG09.
