Project: ModCron
I have started this in another forum. However, I thought I'd share it here.
I bought this case at a local thrift store. PIII 866, 128MB PC100 SDRAM, 20GB HDD. Not bad, but.....
Just look at the size of this thing! I paid $20 for it!
And from the front:
Shhhh.... This is how you add things!
Look at that expansion room!
Can anyone say "stealth hot-swap bay"?
And it's so simple to open it, if you know where to look:
Talk about spacious! Don't know what the blue thing is, PCI cooler?
However, it's simple to open. Note this:
And this.
To this:
And again.
The board and cooler..
Now, the PSU cage is totally nice.
Remove this screw....
Yank on this....
Whoop. Gotta pull cables.
Once again. Totally AWESOME!!!
Better mugshot of the cooler.
The RAM. 1GB total.
Well, this is how things are mounted.
A special type of screw goes on the front two spots, and a third mounts it.
This is your OS HDD bay, because it's an always-on, needs the ventilation.
Your power board.
Left side panel?
One or two screws to remove.
Meh, a bit bland. Might make for OK wire routing, haven't checked for that.
Toolless PCI bay.
From the inside.
Simply remove the screw....
To get this.
Final treat. The sound card. Creative: the best producers of audio products, period.
Model number.

Re: Project: ModCron
Tempo HP case on the left.
Window hole (kinda blurry sorry)
New back side, with stealth floppy
LCD (work in progress)
In the tempo case:
Fan (in action!) Plus front audio/USB ports (both in progress)
And again:
In action, back in its home. The other case had horrible ventilation.
Insides:
My desk.
What's this keyboard?
A Sejin Electron Inc. SWK-8697WT keyboard, with PS/2 reciever!
The reciever:
And, finally, my power-saver/anti-hijacker tool:
Mouse teaser, for my laptop:
Unfortunately, I lost the left button
Well, I don't have food, but I'll treat you to something:
Genesis on a 40" LED TV.

Re: Project: ModCron
Cool start. Micron cases are all over. This one has the Dell swing out motherboard fan thing going on. I'll watch this.

Take a look at local thrift shops; you will find the widest variety of cases there.
AT, ITX, NLX....
Dell, HP, History businesses.......

Re: Project: ModCron
For those of you with spouses already P/O'ed about all the computer "junk" laying around in every room of the house I strongly suggest treating those thrift shops like an alchoholic treats a bar... Just stay away, it's for your own good...
GF: What the heck do you need a manual for Windows 3.0 for?
Me: But it's only a dollar!
GF: You didn't answer the question... Besides you don't even have Windows 3.0, what the hell you need the manual for it for?
Me: Sure I do
GF: No you don't
Me: Hell yea I do, You dragged me to the Goodwill, I'm gettin this, end of story
GF: What the heck are you doing with a copy of Windows 3.0?
Me: ... Same thing I do with my copies of Windows 1, 2, 3.11, 95, 95 with USB Support, 95 OSR2, 98, 98SE, ME and every version of NT
GF: And that is?
Me: Not a whole hell of alot, but just having them makes me awesomer
GF: Clearly
Me: You're just jealous
GF: What do you think of this vase for our living room
Me: Looks like someone didn't want it anymore for a reason
GF: What's that supposed to mean?
Me: Looks like sh... HEY! LOOK! They have computers!
ex-GF: I'm leaving
The "right" girl would have understood why I had to buy this... :D
Back on topic though, nice little gem you got there, the 3.5" floppy back in the back next to the power supply is pretty awesome, that case has tremendous potential.
