Pretty cool deal. Too bad the resolution is 2880 x 900... would not be good for CAD work. Fine for just gaming. I'll have to stick with my 2560x1600 30" Dell flat panel a bit longer.
Re: does anyone remember that 43 inch curved lcd monitor?
I always loved the concept, but don't love rear projection. Not enough contrast or viewing angle. From what I understand, NEC, Ostendo, and Alienware all sold them, although I'm sure they were in fact all the same monitor produced on the same line with different emblems slapped on.
Still, for a bargain I would pick one up.

they aren't rear projection from the way i understand it. it's like 3 lcd screens glued together, and controlled by a dlp controller....
Re: does anyone remember that 43 inch curved lcd monitor?
No, they are definitely rear projection. It's essentially four rear projection systems projecting to one screen with a single controller. I'm not saying it's bad, but it definitely has the same limitations of all rear projection monitors.
Re: does anyone remember that 43 inch curved lcd monitor?
Looks like rear projection using LCD panels in a short throw configuration rather than a DLP type projector with lenses and a longer throw. LCD panels by themselves cannot create a seamless edge to edge picture. Interesting tech. I'd love to get my hands on a setup, see what makes it tick, and see about adjusting it for my own uses with higher resolution panels. Could you imagine (3) 30" Dell flat panels (2560x1600) in portrait mode with no bezels?
Or I might have to just wait for the 4K panels to start being affordable.

I think I'm waiting for high pixel density 4K monitors as well before I upgrade. This guy is doing crazy stuff with his setups all the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBj3RfMGOV0
