Like it or loathe it, facebook is a wildly popular social networking site. Like anything which becomes popular or well used, it has become a more and more popular target for scammers and the people who run the site have stepped up with a new feature to help combat at least one avenue of potential fraud...
more.
Re: Newsdesk: New Facebook temporary password service.
I think it's a pretty neat feature really. I only use FB at home and work (for my work's page that I maintain, of course ) so I don't need to worry about it, but it's a great idea
Re: Newsdesk: New Facebook temporary password service.
I absolutely agree that it is a good idea in principle - but as I mentioned, my only reservation is that if you leave your phone on a table, your little sister etc etc can then very easily get into your facebook... A simple PIN number would help in that regard, as long as you remember to delete your sent messages of course :P

Interesting service. Easy, convenient, though as slave mentioned, easily exploitable.

A few ways to fix that:
1) Don't have a facebook account. :P
2) Don't register any phone with your account.
----Problematic if you forget your password or loose access to the account for whatever reason
3) Register an IP phone of some sort with it.
----ex, Google Voice can send/receive sms
4) Password-protect your phone
----note: I'll admit that I'm a bit of a hypocrite on this one...I used to do it, but it's just such a pain...
All that being said, with anything you have to find a middle ground between security and convenience, and while I don't think they've quite found it yet, it looks like they're headed in the right direction.
