Mass Effect 2
Ok, this game rocks. The original was and still is one of the most enveloping story-driven games I've played. I had high hopes for this one and it lives up to them.
There are a few changes I don't care for, but overall it's great. It's a very rare thing for me to spend $50 on a game but I got this 2 hours after release and don't regret it a bit. And what do you know? (I'm talking to *you*, Bethesda!) It works perfectly right out of the box.
Highly recommended.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I wondered if the first game was good. I will have to try it. although between work, school, and a 2 yr old, I haven't had much time for games.

Re: Mass Effect 2
On PC I had issues with the first one so I didn't get very far through. I was using XP at the time. Now that I have 7 I think I will try again, and if it isn't working for me then I might try getting a controller so I can play the darned thing well.
By that time hopefully Mass Effect 2 will be $20.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I was watching my brother play this game earlier. It's pretty awesome looking... dunno if I feel like investing the 20-40hrs required to beat it, though. I also doubt my current system will be able to run it at very high settings (stupid E6320 doesn't even like Borderlands very much).
I wonder if they have or will have a graphic novel for this eventually.

Re: Mass Effect 2
20 - 40 hours? are you meaning to beat every side quest as well?
I just finished, took about 14 hours, but didnt do very many side quests, all squad loyal though.
ME1 is one of my favourite games, so i was pretty excited about this one, as was said before, a few changes that werent to my taste, feels like the rpg side of things has been dumbed down a lot, but the story is absolutely amazing.
Bioware really know how to make a game that sucks you in.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I actually spent about 18-20hrs on it. I assumed it was much, MUCH longer than it actually is, lol. I did manage to make it through with no casualties, AND I saved the crew. T'was awesome.
