7850 Overclock
Ive been working on overclocking my AMD 7850, but im just getting into the overclocking scene and i wanted some advice, I managed to get it to 3.01 (from stock 2.8) and have it stable and running at 34 C on idle and 45 C with Prime 95 after an hour. to do this i only increased the multiplier (from 14 to 15) but if i go any higher with just the multiplier then it it Becomes unstable... I just dont really know what to change to bump it higher. My goal is 3.2 - 3.4 stable. Help is appreciated

ive got my 7750 oc'd to 3.2 from 2.7, but i cheated, my biostar mobo has easy auto OC settings.

lol... i had a friend with a Biostar board... Glad to hear you're having good luck with it though. It was because of him i paid more for the Gigabyte. =)

Re: 7850 Overclock
So final update on this thread for me. I used FSB and multiplier to overclock the system, I acheived a bootable overclock of 3.4, but it errored out of prime 95 after a few min of testing, and i didnt want to bump the voltage up any more, The stable overclock acheived was a 3.2 (from 2.8 stock) and ran prime 95 for 11 hours with no errors. The idle temp is 35~38 and the load temp was 46~48 with the zalman orb cooler set to roughly half speed, i didnt notice any significant cooling gain with it maxed out, so i left it. The ram now runs at 900 mhz, and the ht transport is up to 1.6. All the overclocking was done through Bios.

A good result for one of those. I wouldn't feel too put out.
