Serial COM port questions...
Hello guys...
I have a wierd question for you here...
I have a camera I'm trying to hook-up to my computer via serial cable.
It's not a webcam... and it isn't a normal point-and-shoot camera.
Anyway, serial cable... connection.
So, I don't have the software to connect to the camera.
I was wondering, if any of you fine people out there would happen to know about a program that would 'record' and/or 'eavesdrop' into that serial COM port connection.
What's being sent, and what's being received.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot guys!
Hope I can get this working
Best to all,

Re: Serial COM port questions...
windows or linux?
For linux, search for ttysnoop.
Checking on windows now...
Could not find a free version of a ttysnoop utility for windows in a short time frame. Try google "windows serial port analyzer".
Re: Serial COM port questions...
Interesting... What's the camera? I can't help thinking that if you can't establish a connection, there won't be much to eavesdrop on anyway.
If it's a Kodak DC210 then I might be able to help...

AB, I never did get to thank you for your reply.
Thanks a lot. :)
It really helped when received, and set me off to a better course.

Hey xMasTree... sorry for the mega-late reply.
It's a Nokia 'PT-2U Observation Camera'
Nifty thing, but I'm... having major problems doing anything with them.
I have 12... 8 don't even light up.
Three have non-default security codes, so I can't access them for now.
One, I do communicate with it, but I get a "Communications Error" when I try to do progress.
Hmm...
Will update soon, but in any event, plans have changed.
These cameras no longer... ermm... how do I put it... they no longer are that necessary.
We've moved on to greener pastures now.
LoL
Thanks!
