now that i have the money i am looking at a logitech g15 to be my next keyboard and i wanted to know is it good. i've read maybe 10 reviews and so far aside from the price its really good.

Pros: backlit keys, lcd screen, 18 programable keys with 3 banks for total of 54 programable keys, you can lock with windows keys.

Cons: on some of them the paint wears off but i read that logitech will replace it, its 2 usb ports are only 1.1 is that true?, big, pricey

i think i am going to end up getting it once stupid canada computers gets more in stock. my main concern is the usb 1.1 thing. if it ends up being 1.1 is there anyway to change it ?

sorry if this is the wrong place not sure where elsde to put it.

its a great gamin keyboard i know that, as for the usb i guess if you had to you could take a 2.0 one out of a pci slot and wire it in, dont know if itd work though

I really doubt it would be 1.1. It was made like a year ago, and if they wasted their time and money putting USB 1.1 on it, Logitech is stupid.

If I had the money, I'd buy one.

I've had the G15 since 3 days after it came out (I had it preordered) and I've never had any paint wear off at all, the USB ports ARE 2.0, and NOT 1.1, If your not a big fan of the lcd there is a version (G11 i think) that just leaves it off. My only complaint is that it's got blue backlight, would have preferred red, but that can be fixed in a few hours if you have some surface mount LEDs :) Overall, an amazing keyboard for gaming.

Not true my fine feathered friend...the ARE USB 1.1. What a total dissapointment. I love Logitech...but wtf...honestly? Don't believe me? Just google it...or look here (http://www.everythingusb.com/logitech_g15_gaming_keyboard.html) My mother-in-law bought one wand when I plugged my flash drive into it it said "you have pluggted a high speed device into a non high speed port" or whatever that message is. Make sure you research before you go posting inaccurate info.

"you have pluggted a high speed device into a non high speed port"

This would imply that the device is USB2 and the port is only capable of USB1 speeds.

I don't think Logitech is stupid for putting 1.1 in there... if they are, in fact, 1.1

If they wanted 2.0 in the keyboard, they would have to provide the keyboard with DC power.

And if that happens, then you know the complaints...

Stupid Logitech! To be able to use the 2.0 USB ports, I have to hook-up this stupid power supply to my power outlet. Yet one more box for my gripes!

I have a G15 and I love it. I've had it for over a year now, I do alot of gaming, and only one key is starting to show wear. The LCD, Macros, Start Switch, backlighting and integrated USB are great and useful. As everyone has said, the USB ports are 1.1 but I've never had a problem w/ it because I only ever plug in devices like mice or remote recievers.

I'd highly recommend the G15

Most of keyboards I've tried with USB port on it, they were 1,1 USB, not 2,0. I Know the main reason I want USB ports on my Keyboard is for USB Memory stick, but I think the companies prefer you put input add ons, like mouse or dongles... Anyway, try to MOD it :D

Right, I understand that, I was jsut using that example to show that the keyboard is only 1.1 capable :p

Good.

Buy it. I've have mine for about a year and a half now and everything has held up perfectly. Definitely worth the price.

i thought you only needed a power supply for a usb hub if your going to charge you mp3 players and other things. i got the logitech MX Revolution so would i be able to plug the dongle in the keyboard and have the same experience as if it wawss plugged right into a 2.0 port?

the store finally has them in so i am going to pick it up w00t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love mine. I just find the keys a bit noisy. and the wrist pad is weird. its almost like a felty rubbery plastic. love the feeling of it, but.. it keeps the "grease/sweat" marks from my palms and wrists.

The lcd is neat, but i don't use it.

i hate installing drivers for keyboards, mice and other stuff. takes up valuable system resources. so.. mine just says logitech all day long. I did have all the bells and whistles installed for it, but, found i never used them, so, didn't reinstall when i formatted. the only real reason i bought my g15, was i wanted back lit keys, and i love logitech. been happy ever since..

but, even if you dont use the lcd, you probably wont get the g11 any cheaper. since there is very little demand for them anyway.

oh yah, and my keyboard does not support the use of my logitech wingman rumble pad. says it doesn't have sufficient power for it. which kinda annoys me. it does however, support my G7 mouse.

does anyone have any programs or know a good place to get programs for the lcd screen? i've heard people make all kinds of things that the lcd can display.

If your able to have custom programs for the display, can it display info such as cpu and system temp, cpu speed, fan speeds, upload/download speeds etc.??? if it does and works without crashing, I might consider getting one.

being new to this keyboard i don't know 100% but i think you can. i heard logitech gives you some kind of coding with the keyboard to write your own progrmas for it, but you have to know C++.

thanks dfigravity for the links too +rep
how do i install the apps i downloaded? the readme.txt files don't say and i can't find it on the site.

so i just got the keyboard i a love it so far. but i can't seem to program the g keys for when there is no program running. i it would be nice to have a key programed with ctrl + alt + del.

but like bartvandenberg said, it takes up a good chunk of memory. all those lcd entries are from the software for the keyboard.

This would be so kickass to own if I had money. :( But yeah, it looks like an awesome keyboard and the backlit keys must be real handy to have... I'll have to come up with some way for someone to get me one, lol...

You'd really be suprised w/ the kinda plugins people have made for it. My favorites are :
G15 Task Manager-You use the LCD and LCD buttons to end processes just like task manager, except this one works better
Custom Game Plugins:BF2, BF2142, DoD:S, CS:S and more
Official Game Plugins/Supported Games (http://www.logitech.com/promotions/promo.cfm?countryid=19&languageid=1&contentid=11264)

Great keyboard, even non-gamers could find this extremely useful.

I give it an A+
