How hard would it be to build a wooden case? ( I am playing around with some first mod idea's) any advice from anyone who has built one would be helpful.

depends how complex you want it. wood is pretty easy to work with, once you find out what you want to do, it shouldnt be a prob. you should have good ventillation tho, wood is not a good heat conductor and it will show on the temps.
Especially when it ignites.

i meant anything flamable against the case...hang on...
y'know, go for it anyway, just dont cry if it bursts into flame. lol
Lol, the wood wont catch on fire... the amount of energy required to ignite a chemical reaction between wood and air is quite high. And i'm sure you'd be smart enough to coat the wood in a non flamable substance.

Rocket Fuel :D
I am Joking..
There have been some nice cases made out of wood.
You don't even need to coat it in a non-flammable chemical. Your big concern will be heat. Wood is a great insulator.
Even a high computer temp of 200f wouldn't be close to enough to ignite wood. You have to run about 450-500f to even start to ignite it, and if your case is 500 degrees, you have bigger problems.

That's exactly why he needs a catalyst!
Say... maybe, a blown Inverter?

For inspiration, take a look at these Mini-ITX projects, all in wood cases :)

And next time try making a table/PC case totally out of wood, impressive and nuts.
I would like to make one in the future but I have 3 modding projects to work on anyway, so it will be much further down the road after I get some 'trigger time' so to speak. I would like to make a home theatre setup completely hand made including the pc case.
