I recently acquired two pumps that were in a apple g5.

The pumps are laing ddc pumps. I was wondering because the directions that the seller gave were un-clear because he gave no picture, but if were to run the pump "pc version" which two wires do you keep soldered on?

Is the the farthest left and the one next to it, if were looking at the pump from the inlet/outlet side or is it the reverse?

The first option is what i have it at now, i just thought i should double check before i run these pumps.

I believe they are the DDC 1-VC 10w but I honestly do not have a clue...but here's whats inscribed on the board:
LaingDDC v5.4

4 solder points:
Gnd scribed to the left of point, blank, blank, and blank.

Could it be gnd, +, speed and then blank?

There's a pump mod kit that replaces the circuit board on those I've got a how-to about that should be published soon. Your pump is the right age, I would say that the kit would be an excellent upgrade for you, and as a bonus the wires are very clearly labeled on it.

Is that diyinhk's pcb kit?

Yup, I have one and I love it. Wish all mine had the PCB mod now.

What does it do and where can I get one?

It basically replaces the factory board with a board that has clear displayed posts, quicker start up, and fancy things like led lights with it.

I think i'm just gonna go with trial and error. If anything thing i may be able to switch out the board if the board fries.

Start off with low voltages. ~2-5V.

Maybe try this out:

The pins of the 4 wire pump are connected as follows:
1. +12V (V control)
2. Tach output
4. V mot (variable)
6. ground

I think i figured it out....well hopefully i did.

And if i do and everything works okay, i guess this could be used as a reference to any that get OEM laing pumps.

So if i read correctly:

The swiftech pump originally comes with 3 wires, black (ground), yellow (+12V) and blue (tach output).

That the wires that need to be connected to run around are the (from left to right); ground and the 4th post or post #1 (+12v) and the 3rd post or the tach output for rpm readings.

Tried that and alas nothing...now i'm trying the posts that certain swiftech's are soldered to see if that works. If i fry a board, sure i'll be disappointed but at least i walk away knowing that didn't work.

SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!!!
Almost wanna make a reference page or something....any pumps that you get off of ebay or anything like that (that are apple oem replacements,) or are laing ddc boards version 5.4; just solder a wire to the ground post/slot, and the post/slot directly next to it.

If you were looking at the board and solder points:

GND[x] [x] [] []

Thread can now be closed, thank you. :D

Good info...do you have any way of identifying the boards that work? Maybe you should do the reference page...thanks.

It was just trial and error testing to see what worked and didn't...i was prepared for a board to go up in smoke, but alas it didn't.

As far as i know, the laing DDC 5.4 and 5.7 version are "somewhat" similar, however, if it is a 6.0 i'm not 100% sure they use the same posts.

If you need to see where the version is printed for the 5.4 and the 5.7 board, refer to the picture posted on page 1, but on the v6.0 it is printed to the right of the 4 main solder points.
My assumption is that all the swiftech boards should be v6.0 brand new, but second hand ones will most likely be the older versions.

What is awesome is that every forum i've seen hasn't had the answer to this wiring problem anywhere...TBCS is the only one now...as far as i know of.

Now to find out where/if this should be in the tutorials or this section as a sticky or something to that effect.
