Kinda neat, I'd like to see how it actually performs though

ditto....but I must admit I'd LOVE a wireless video card, especially as I have 2 screens. And the cable for one is stretched rather tight.

That is very interesting...
With so many antennas (likely different wavelengths) I'm a little worried that it would interfere with just about every other wireless device in your home. Perhaps the broadcast range is very limited?
Hmm, interesting. The WHDI standard has been set for about a year now, and I've seen a couple HDMI->WHDI->HDMI adapters, but never a video card with the equipment integrated. I wonder if this card comes with two receivers? BTW, mDust, WHDI operates in the 5GHz unlicensed space, so there's a lot more leeway (much wider than the 2.4GHz unlicensed band) and a lot less there atm. It also gives you a lot more bandwidth to play with. :D Interference shouldn't be much of an issue...for now...

From those links it sounds like the WHDI device can broadcast multiple channels with different content on each one. Is that what all the antennas are for?..multiple monitors?
What happens if you have one of these things in a computer upstairs and another one in a computer downstairs? Do they make some kind of secure connection and frequency hop to avoid interfering with each other? It sounds like a home with these things could get complicated really fast.

I'm guessing that's what the multiple antennas are for, rather like 802.11n routers. Remember, anything operating in the unlicensed frequency bands has to assume there will be interference either from other similar units or something else entirely in the same band, so especially with data transmission systems like wifi or WHDI, they have to be able to handle a fair bit of interference. Besides, iirc it's a lot easier to have lots of equipment in the 5GHz band talking since each has to use a smaller portion of the band to communicate the same amount of information compared to, say, the 2.4GHz unlicensed band.

i wonder about someone driving around with a monitor with the wireless adapter for it trying to see what you are :)
I would hope that it's encrypted....hope....*goes to check standard*
EDIT:
Well, at least this one manufacturer uses 256-bit AES. Hopefully that's standard with keys tied to hardware device IDs.

Scared me there!

That is pretty damn cool.... I myself wonder about everything going wireless all the time. It just seems like, in the long run, there will be problems. Interference, security, hell even health... IDK, just me, no need to tear me down or say that I'm being dumb.
Interference, definitely. Security, there are relatively simple ways around that. 802.1X for wifi, for example. Health there is a lot of controversy over in certain circles, but afaik nobody's determined anything for sure. Personally I'm not worried. If getting bombarded with 2.4GHz and 5GHz band radiation is gonna kill me, I think I'd be dead by now. :P

Well...this is awkward. You died, pal. A long time ago...I don't think anyone here realized you didn't know. The autopsy revealed that Mountain Dew mixed with Cup of Noodles zapped with certain 5ghz frequencies produced a poison so toxic that the discoverers were also instantly killed. It was aptly named x88xanide. The death toll so far is in the tens of millions globally...mostly found still sitting at their computers.
Dang it! That's too long for an SQ!
BTW/edit: how do you pronounce x88x? Ecks Eight Eight Ecks?

w00tz! At least I made an impact on the world! :D

How do you get sound?

?? I don't know about anyone else, but my speakers don't plug into my video card. :?

A lot of graphics cards have on-board sound. Even my now replaced HD 2900 had sound. It's not great quality but it allowed for 1 HDMI cable from my computer to my receiver for both video and surround sound.
I would assume that this card either doesn't have on-board sound or that it's transmitted wirelessly as well and the receiving antenna outputs video and sound.
