and it weighed 25lbs...
They're sending it back and it says "55lbs." I wonder if they're sending back the old one with a new one?! That would definitely be an awesome warranty.

It may because of the automatic insurance tied to a package by the shipping company. Listing it as a higher weight may increase the automatic insurance enough to offset the cost of paying for the higher weight instead of more insurance

It might also be for weight banding purposes - the courier company may group stuff into bands for weight - could well be 0-20 pounds, then 21-55 pounds and the item automatically gets assigned the higher of the two figures if it falls into that category

I guess we'll see Monday what the deal is. Originally I was told I'd just keep my TV and they'd send me a check for what I paid for it but that was the extended warranty so that doesn't apply until the factory warranty is up.

/\ One of these, I think. I've actually had similar things happen several times, like, say, a single HDD that I ship out and the whole thing weighs about 1 pound...and they ship it back with a shipping label for 10 pounds. :P

Beyond pissed off...
So I get my TV back in some huge box and it's just the TV with some packing **** around the edges. The remote control isn't in the box and when I turned it on there's a nice pressure mark at the top of the screen when the screen's black.
I called "Amkotron" and the dumb &*$#H that answered hardly spoke enlgish and forwarded me to a fax when I asked to speak to a supervisor.
