Alright I'm goin to Microcenter tonight, but I'm still undecided between a 5850 or 5870. The 5870 is $100 more, but I've read taht you can OC the 5850 to 5870 speeds, plus in the future I can pick up another 5850 and xfrie them. opinions?

I'd say wait until the 6 series comes out and the 5870 drops in price. I personally wouldn't upgrade to anything that I'll need to be overclocking right off the bat.

I'd love to wait, but I've got someone interested in my 3870x2's, so I need to move :D

Get a 5850, if you need more, you can get another later!

that's what I was thinkin. I've been reading that the 5870 isn't worth the extra $100 for the limited increase in performance. I'll post pics after I get back tonight :D

5850 Then oc is some.
I would also say go with the 5850. Going off this chart (http://techreport.com/articles.x/19404/11) (sorta become my go-to source for stuff like this lately..I love it when sites do really comprehensive studies :D ), it performs about the same as a GTX460 1GB, and in CF they perform about the same as a 5970!
What res? Im playing at 1920x1200 with a 5850 and it plays a large majority of games on all high.
Maybe check this out?
MSI R5850 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 5850 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127500) + $60 Rebate (http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/MSI3MIRsOct16Oct3110ls41us.pdf)
Lowest price Ive seen a 5850 at but you may want to wait to see what the 6xxx series will do to the current cards.
