Ok this is my pretty much my first post here. anyways i just wanted to get some opinions on what 2 do. I have a Dell Dimesnion 2350 thats in need of repair i fixed the boot problem in 10 minutes or less but now when i got it to boot their is overr 500 critical objects found by ad aware 818 to be exact.
but the problem is that before i can tell adaware to delete the files the comptuer crashes in a matter of about 15min after boot.So therefore i can just delte them with a spyware remover even in safe mode the comptuer crashes. i have googled and read other fourms before i poseted as 2 not waste anyoens time think u for ur reply ahead of time.

Id still reformat the HD and install a fresh copy of XP. Think of it as spring cleaning, you gota do it every few months.

One thing to make sure you do when cleaning up spyware, viruses and such is to turn off System Restore. It often will create a backup of malicious apps like spyware that will restore themselves on your next reboot.

One tip just incase - If you don't have a floppy drive, dont even think of trying to get a fresh install of xp without one!

I've never had a problem re-installing XP without a floppy.
One thing I need to do is set up a "Windows in Your Pocket" usb key for this sort of thing. it's great to be able to boot without spinning up your HDD, allowing you to reformat very easily.

You are lucky. If you ever need to install drivers at xp install you can only do it via floppy drive, which is SO ANNOYING if you have no floppy. I had to burn my own version of the xp disk with the drivers on it.
