Steam Error in my Favour

OK, wierd thing happened when I connected steam to the net today (i got the net hooked up last night, but it was crappish speeds till this morning). I look at the icon on the systray, and it had the downloading lines on it. I first thought it was updating a game, but when I checked, left 4 dead was downloading, and is currently at 65%. I didnt buy it, and the credit/debit card I last used for steam expired about a month ago. So either someone bought it as a gift for me, or its a steam error. I thought it would pop up with a message if someone had given it as a gift.

It's as 24 Free trial that ends in a 11 hours :] It's not a Steam error.

Even if it is that, it wouldent download automatically would it.

there is a play for free thing today, but it wouldent automatically download, as some people have bandwidth limits.

I wont touch it for today, and try and play it tomorrow. If it is the trial, I wont be able to play, but if it's the full version, I should be able to. I'll let you know how I get on ;)

Well, could be something went through when you were messing around with it, and it somehow started downloading. If it's the full game, enjoy it. If it's not, find a way to buy it anyway.

Only thing that sucks is it's probably going to jump back up in price after the trial expires. It's available for 24 bucks today.

I got mine for 20 though through steam.

Looks like its the trial, but I can still play it till about 5pm tomorrow ;)

I never clicked download. I never even knew there was a free play day, until ShadowNyfe told me, and that was after it was already 50% downloaded. Strange.

Well Steam is EVIL now.. I saw the option.. I clicked install.. and now I am freaking ADDICTED! This game is fun as hell. It's only 23.99 until Monday, I guess the kids can get by on some saltines and ketchup packets for the next few days. :P

Have you tried the survival mode online, OvRiDe? I've owned the game for many months, and even though that game mode is new, I have yet to try it. Overal Left 4 Dead is a great game though.
