DVD to AVI software?

So here's the situation: I've got a DVD of our sonogram that I'd like to share on Youtube. One problem: it's in DVD format, and I am not sure if I'd be able to upload it.

Anyone know of any software that'll convert it to AVI (or even wmv for that matter) format?

For Windows I used DVDFab Platinum -- its 50 bucks but I really like it.
