I already have a savings and checking and paypal account, but want more. Does anyone know of any bank chains with high(er) interest rates on savings and CD's?

401(k) through your employer would be your best bet. Find out how much your employer will match, and add 2% more, if your finances will allow for it.

I work at a credit union, our rates on CD's typically can beat banks by decent margin.

However CD's right now are at the low end, and they aren't something you buy low/sell high. I would second the 401k, also a decent time to look at some less liquid investments that may pay off when rates go up. (investment homes/home improvements with Heloc to increase value when the market up-swings)

There are some online savings accounts that pay mad interest, but read the rules carefully.

^^what halycyon said^^

...but if you are looking for a better financial institution, Credit Unions are the way to go. Governed and owned by the members.

I'm already a member of a credit union and the rates on a savings account is less than 2%. CD's top at 3.5%
