Its something like that. I think that the code uses the GPU to procces information as well as the CPU to make programs run faster.

It could utilize the GPU instead of CPU to do sound decoding... things.

I am in no way a coder, and I didn't even read the original article. So I don't really have a lot to talk about here.

CUDA should just be some headers for C (Wikipedia says it's C with extensions, headers are they first way to extend C).

Funny how they think MP3 encoding is slow, on my laptop, LAME seems to convert WAV to MP3 (VBR) very quickly (hard drive speed is limiting it). What they should have for a contest is a video transcoding one (I don't know of video transcoders that have hardware acceleration support), (or support adding hardware acceleration to ffmpeg), get that GPU doing the transcoding (it's already good with video), that would offer a useful speedup.

ONE problem I just found:

So we could work on it, but only one person could enter the code. And whoever enters the code must be 18 in Canada or USA.
