Need help choosing my computer parts. Open for suggestions

Hello, recently I been busy with work and school and I need help choosing my computer parts. I want to build a gaming computer, here is what I got so far, its not a lot, I just haven't been paying attention to the most recent computer parts:

Motherboard: Not sure yet

Processor: Not sure yet, I want intel processor, I may go for a extreme 3.0. I don't plan to overclock

HDD: Not sure yet, I want something between 300gb and 500gb under $200. Good quality HDD.

Video Card: Thinking of this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130071 I want something with direct 10x, if you guys know a better one you can suggest.

Sound card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102005 . I want to use the pc to listen to music and get great sound, you can suggest another one if this is not the right one.

Fans: I want to replace the current ones in the case for others not sure which ones, maybe some led ones (red) or if you can suggest others for better cooling.

CPU Cooler: Not sure which one, if you can recommend.

Drives: Not sure which ones, I want to burn cd's DVD's with good burning speeds and I want a good fan controller. I may get one of these http://www.crazypc.com/products/902.html

I know I may be missing a lot of stuff and if you could tell me what are, this is my first build so suggestions are appreciate it.

are you wanting to go sli? if not then the p35 boards have had really good reviews from what i have seen.

wait for the newer intel dual and quads, the Q9450 is only 316 and has 12mbs of L2 cache at 1333fsb:):):)

for the hdd's i would pick up two Seagate Barracuda ST3250410AS's and raid them. if speed charts and what not mean anything to you here (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=528853) is a thread that will show them off.

as for coolers the thermalright ultra 120 extreme is best but if you haven't the room or budget then i like my arctic cooler freezer 7 pro at only 30.

and dvd drives i would go with a sata, then you need smaller cables and they burn at the same, in some cases a little higher than IDE ones. i like my LG H26n, but i haven't tried burning much so not sure if its the fastest.

Video Card: Great choice. EVGA has their stepup plan so you can upgrade to the next series or just an 8800GTX within 90 days.


CPU: I would recommend either an intel Q6600 or a E6850. Just depends if you want dual core, or quadcore. Both are awesome and around the same price range.

RAM: That ram seems fine. A lot of people on here seem to like it. It has that blue glow to so if you like that. If not that than I'd recommend Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800. After rebates they usually run about $60 for 2x1GB.

Great PSU. Modular. 3 +12v rails. Just a nice all around PSU that will last.


Motherboard:

This is the P35-DS3R, same board I have. Awesome board. Plenty of sata connectors. No floppy connector if you need that though. 1 16x pci-e slot. So no sli, but I don't find sli to be worth the money (ive experienced it with my old setup and loved it. But in the end just doesn't do as great as it seems like it would...memory doesn't add together, so if you can't handle high textures with one card, you won't do it with two...speeds aren't doubled. etc.)

Awesome motherboard and very reasonable price as well.


Monitor:

Honestly, as much as I love ASUS that monitor seems way overpriced for what it does. For that price you can get a 24" monitor that supports 1080, not just 720.

if you dont want 24, You can get a nice 22" monitor for around 200-350$. Pretty much take your pic, there are several great ones. I love my 22" Gateway lcd. Plenty of connections ( dvi, vga, composite, component etc), and the panel was made by Samsung.

The Samsung 22" is nice. Some of the Dell's are very nice as well.



Hard Drives:

I prefer Western Digital over Seagate and/or Maxtor but thats just personal preference. They just have been completely bullet proof for me whereas others have not.


Sound:

That is a decent card. Just remember, with sound your weakest link is going to be the one to let you down. So even if you get a nice sound card, if your using crap codecs or crap speakers/speaker wire, its going to show. Just be aware of that.

If you go with the DS3R mobo i linked above, the onboard seems pretty nice. Im not using a 5.1 setup or anything but I have a sick setup nonetheless and the sound is pretty nice. Im not one to care much nonetheless but its still nice sound.
