Possibly an over-dramatic title but...
I've decided that the country I'm in now has gone a little bit OTT, and I want to escape.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some help with emigrating from the UK?
I'm not kidding... :(

Come To Canada. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=How+to+immigrate+to+Canada&btnG=Search)
Well Ontario I know is pretty cool, and British Columbia. I'd say stay away from Quebec. But otherwise come on over!

You want to escape i can't blame you tbh, this country is ****ed up. ****ed up far too much and the government (or that's what they call themselves) is doing bugger all. When i can, i want to get out too but then it makes life harder with money :| Have you tried google? or something, i dunno who could help really.
If you wanted in to the country that's easy, a boat to the beach usually does it...

Come over here for a while, go out into the countrside and chillax for a while. Government? Our ruler is known to 100% of the population as Bertie, what more do you need to know about the Irish attitude?

Nothing is as bad as the US has been in the last couple years. The wiser you get the more disgusting the country becomes.

Mmm... move to Australia.. I dreamt about that for a long time actually. My wife and I were considering that before we had the baby, but now we are lucky to be buying a house and a guaranteed 3 year contract at my current job. :D
New Zealand looks nice too, as does most of Northern Europe, but to be honest with you, I'd stick with Canada. British Columbia is my absolute dream location, and once I pull together my business I'll buy that multimillion dollar waterfront property on the island, and live there. :D

One of my favorite comments on this? If you are not disgusted you are not paying attention.

This is the correct motorcycle.
Good luck getting into Australia. Unless you have skills (and I mean top notch skills), your chances of getting a working visa for more than a year are almost nil. I have done the investigation, but that was many years ago. (Still on the table though). I have a friend who is married to a nice Aussie living down under and he is not able to get a well paying job nor even able to renew his working visa anymore so they are moving to Oregon in February.
Canada? They take anyone that shows up... JK! :p
At one time or another everyone gets fed up with their government. You can not please all the people all the time or even some of the people some of the time.

That is true.
Anyway, I'm planning to move to Sweden.
(No offence to the Aussies, Yanks and Canuckistanis. :p)
I'm going through an 'Introduction to Swedish' book, and I'm typing on a Swedish layout keyboard. I have to say, it's interesting. I like a challenge.

Anyone from Great Britain who thinks their country is screwed up, needs to take a serious look at the world around them.
If you don't want to live here because it's too 'OTT' for you, perhaps you could swap places with someone from somalia right now? Perhaps someone from calcutta? from North Korea? from rural Russia? from Iraq?
Quit worrying about what you don't have, and the relatively minor problems in government and wake up to the fact that in comparison to the rest of the world you are EXTREMELY lucky to have the luxury of living in the UK.

I understand what you're getting at but, that is not the point of the thread. It's probably very hard for all of those people to do something about their situations. However, Helix has the power to move somewhere and, if that makes him happier, I don't see whats so bad about that.
I don't want to argue or tell you you're wrong but I just thought you were a little harsh.
Neeways, Helix, I don't know what to say. Though Im in the US, I can't particularly recommended it. Here in Michigan my dad hasn't been able to find a solid job for 6 years. Luckily we only have another 1 and 1/4 years before George Bush is outta here, maybe the US will be pretty nice at that point... I've heard (a lot from here) that australia is nice, and from what I've seen and heard, it sounds like a real great place.

Here in the US, the government needs to make a major turning point away from being for themselves for better for the population. Greed is currently in the white house, and stupidity is dancing naked on the roof (but the secret service has it protected)
Ireland looks beautiful from what i've seen, I can guarantee I will vacation there someday, as well as new zealand.
I'm kind of turned off by england. Not sure why.
Switzerland looks like a very good place to live. They speak french there, don't they? or is it german? italian?
Upper california and oregon are verrry nice places to live (but job opportunities don't really... exist) as well as washington and seattle (my family took a vacation on peugeot sound a few years back, and we all LOVED it).
I hope africa improves, for its own sake. If you are reading this on your computer, in your climate controlled house, in a city where your daughter has less then a 50% chance to get raped and get aids, then don't ever consider yourself unlucky. You're better off than half of the world already.
Overall, the grass IS always greener, but sometimes it's really really brown over here.

Yeah sorry I was a little harsh - I reread my post and reallised that it seemed like I was personally flaming the OP! I wasn't trying to flame, I was trying to suggest that things really arn't that bad when you look at the rest of the world.
Peace,

Sweden = Swedish (Svenska? I've wondered about that)
Upper cali and Oregon ARE extremely wonderful areas, but mostly Oregon. I actually plan on living in Oregon before I seek immigration to some country in the EU (I'm thinking Germany or Sweden). Maybe I'll just move to some Nordic country and enjoy life in my ancestors' homeland.

Funny how the rest of Canada is jealous of us... :D

Then you should go to Amsterdam :D
Seriously, Canada is nice, Qc is the best no matter what he said. You probably never came here Alexander ;)

I hear Antarctica's nice... :p
But yeah, here's my thing: I know there are people out there in worse situations than me, but I don't feel sorry for them, they have my sympathies, but I won't spend my time crying about their situation as it does nothing to improve mine. It is up to those people to do with what they have to improve the whole mess they're in.
Just food for thought. Thank god it's not MacDonald's... speaking of which, on the back of the bag I had from there the other day it quoted some woman saying "I got the gift that keeps on givin'! I'm lovin' it!" Bad gas from playing that Monopoly game? I can see it... thankfully not smell it.
Good luck with finding another country dude. America's pretty crazy, it's just full of self absorbed people that confuse me to no limit. But yeah, I make the most sense I can, go about my own way, and avoid trouble when possible.

Might I offer a piece of advice to those trying to get into Australia.
Only after I congratulate Helix on his decision to learn Swedish and head there.
If you want to get into Australia and think that it could be damn near impossible, well consider this. From Canada you can freely come and go in australia. You need no Visa to go and work or study there. All you need is a piece of paper from the Canadian government declaring you a Canadian citizen and so long as you have that piece of paper you might as well be an Australian resident.
It is awesome that we have such freedom, I hope to take advantage of that fact and go to australia for a year or so and work for my food/residence and all that fun stuff. I think it'd be awesome!

I dont want anything else like that or I'll get mad... I'm not an easily angry person, but speaking against my nation bring some bad things on.
I dont know how old you are or where you get your infos but they are totally wrong. I can bring hundreds of proofs, but it's not the place or the thread for it. The only true about that is that stupid question of language: the english never accepted that we defeated them, that's all; but it's now all history, now, get a life and get over it.
Did you ever heard of propaganda? I cant believe people can be that stupid to believe that. Come here, live with us and see if YOUR government tell the truth about us. I dont say we are better than you, but we are not under you. But from what I see; We believe in equality, do you?
No wonder we want to separate when we see that kind of closed minds
Please, now I want that question closed, cause it's a modding forum, not a politic one.
Edit: see Dave? we're not that different from Ireland ;)

sweden=swedish.
Yeah, i was thinking of switzerland, although i'm betting many of the norther european countries WOULD be very awesome to live in.
Switzerland is french, right? i think so...
I will probably end up living in the northwest, or maybe just stay here in the colorado. I don't know if I could stand not waking up to the view of the mountains every day (I live on the exact edge of the rocky mountains).
I'm sincerely looking forward to that vacation to ireland in 15 years though, I hope that we don't ruin the beauty of that land by then.
